Microsoft to Release Powerful NAS/Backup Solution for Small Business Server 2011

For those of you considering upgrading your client’s current Microsoft Small Business Server (SBS) 2003/2008 implementation to the new SBS 2011 Standard or Premium Editions, you may want to seriously consider the new Microsoft Windows Storage Server Essentials (WSSE) 2008 R2 as a viable NAS/Backup solution once it becomes available.

WSEE can not only act as a NAS device, but also a sophisticated backup and client health monitoring facility. The new MSSE also borrows technology from Windows Storage Server and Home Server’s interface, which support both RAID and cloud services, respectively. WSSE also supports Mac’s client native backup application. As an OEM hardware/software based application server, it’s an excellent storage and backup solution that should not be overlooked.
