In my experience with small and mid-size companies, I have noticed that many do not protect themselves with adequate security measures. I have also seen that most of them operate under one of the following assumptions: they are a small company, and thus of no interest to hackers, or they think they can’t afford protection, and don’t make it a priority. Both these ideas are definitely wrong - once you are connected to the internet you are a target, no matter the size of your company.
According to a recent study cited by the U.S. House Small Business Subcommittee on Health and Technology, nearly 20% of all cyber-attacks hit small businesses with 250 or fewer employees. Roughly 60% of small businesses close within six months of a cyber-attack. If you’re in business, even a small business, you are a target for cyber-crime. So how can you protect you company? Which network firewall will protect you the best?
Many small companies do not know anything about online security and probably do not have time to search for the right solution anyway. Small and mid-size companies should let someone do that for them – which is why I recently I decided to find the best-in-class solution for SMBs. After testing a number of network firewall products, I believe I have found one which is a perfect fit for SMBs.
More than a Network Firewall
Global Technology Associates, Inc. has taken an unconventional approach in designing and supporting their network firewall solution for SMBs. GTA’s product firewall is a high-performance firewall, specially designed for medium-sized and small organizations seeking a single solution to handle most, if not all, of their complicated networking environments and other internet security zones. The GTA firewall incorporates both advanced and standard features into a single easy-to-use networking security appliance. By bringing high-end software and hardware together in a single security device, the GTA firewall provides unique web security options with comprehensive features.
They understand SMB companies, their needs and requirements. They understand that there won’t always be a professional IT team at the customer location, and they have designed their product accordingly. One of the attractive features of the product for SMB’s is that it is very easy to manage, install and run. Even if you are not a networking expert, you would likely find GTA’s network firewall significantly less daunting than competitive products.
Even beyond the quality and ease of use of the GTA product is the company’s business culture and customer-centric approach. GTA is customer driven; they know their customers, keep in contact with them, and always make sure that the next version of their product will fit their customer’s requirements while also maintaining high security standards. In my view, many SMB’s overlook the importance of ongoing support and customer service when selecting IT products, which is a huge mistake, especially if they have small IT departments (or even no formal IT department). One important point here is that GTA does not outsource ongoing customer support to a third party, but rather handle all support themselves, with the option for 24/7 support from GTA’s technical assistance center.
Of course, like most IT vendors, GTA does from time-to-time come out with a new – and better – version of their solution. However, all of GTA’s upgrades are backwards compatible, and they will work with you to upgrade you’re existing GTA solution to the latest version. If you are an IT manager at an SMB, you can feel confident that you will not walk into the Office one day and discover that GTA has suddenly informed its customer base that they will no longer be supporting a solution on which you’re company has come to rely.
A quality product with top-notch customer service - what's not to like?
